    About this item

This is a cast copper-alloy coin weight of late medieval date. The weight is probably for a half ryal (60 grains). This weight is 50grains and the discrepancy is probably due to corrosion. Obverse: Ship left with standing rigging. Reverse: Possible design (illegible). Similar examples have been recorded from the Isle of Wight (IOW-2F89F3)

    See: Withers & Withers 1995: pp. 20, 68.
