    About this item

These cushions are made from a vintage Yoruba woman's wrapper cloth that dates to the first half of the C20. The cloth is a strip weave and the strips are woven from cotton and wild silk, giving a really wonderful rustic slubby texture. The silk thread was unravelled from the nests of the anaphe moth. These cloths are also called sanyan and were reserved for important occasions such as weddings or chieftaincy ceremonies. This cloth is is great condition and the rustic brown is brought to life by the vibrant light blue stripe running down the length of the strips. I've used the cloth for both sides of the cushions and there are zip fasteners and feather pads.
