About this item
These cushions are made from a vintage Yoruba aos-oke. The aso-oke is a cloth made from narrow handloomed strips that are sewn together. The cloth is made from cotton and wild silk and has a decorative floating supplementary weft stitch in a zig zag pattern. There is also a stripe down the middle of each strip in ochre coloured rayon. Cloths such as these were worn for ceremonial occasions. I've backed the cushions with plain natural linen and there are zip fasteners and feather pads.
