About this item
A small, Copeland earthenware mould with a wheatsheaf to the base. This is impressed “COPELAND” and it dates from c.1850. The wheatsheaf design is well detailed and it is surrounded by a border design which was known as either the ‘loop and pin’ or the ‘egg and dart’ design. This design was used on dinner and tea services from the early 19th century as well as border design in moulds. It was a classic design of the period. There is a chip on the rim of the mould which has not yet become detached.
Dimensions: Length 10.8cm. Width 7.5cm. Depth 4.7cm.
