    About this item

An unusual pair of Wedgwood bone china vases. These are marked with a brown, transfer printed mark “WEDGWOOD” beneath an outlined Portland vase. They date from c.1880. Each vase is hand painted, in both matt and glossy enamels and gilding, with various classical designs and borders. This is a most unusual style of decoration for Wedgwood but it is very effective. In the last half of the 19th century Wedgwood experimented with all manner of decoration and sometimes copied the styles of other potteries such as Royal Worcester. During this period in the potteries history we do see some very different pots emerging compared to what we expect from Wedgwood.

Both vases are in excellent condition.

Dimensions of each vase: Height 17.4cm. Diameter 9cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
