About this item
A lightly potted, earthenware mould with a wheatsheaf to the base. This is marked “SPODE” above a number ’43’ and it dates from c.1820. The wheatsheaf is very well detailed and this is surrounded by a border design which is known as either the “loop and pin” or “egg and dart” pattern. This design was frequently used on dinner and tea wares in the early 19th century.
There are two chips and a 2cm crack to the rim. There is a further 1.5cm crack in the foot rim.
