    This is an antique Lord Bury 4 draw telescope. An English, leather and brass terrestrial or astronomical refractor by J.H. Steward of London, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1870.

    Perfect for bird watching, landscape appreciation, wildlife, or maritime observation. Equally suitable for observing the night sky.

    A captivating and pleasingly tactile Victorian telescope

    Displaying a desirable aged patina, in very good order

    Dashing appearance, dressed discretely in quality black leather

    Polished brass draw barrels show bright golden tones

    Protective leather end caps for the front element and eye cup

    Presenting a clear, bright optical performance with a 40mm (1.5") primary objective lens

    Swivel type dust cover to the concentric ring decorated eyecup

    Each of the four draw tubes offer a reassuring pull

    Engraved brass plaque to the primary barrel with maker's mark and serial number 948

    Reads; 'The Lord Bury Telescope, Sole Manufacturer - J.H Steward, 406 Strand, London

    Further engraved maker's mark to the first draw tube in flowing cursive font

    Supplied with a London Fine oak and brass 'Captain's Stand' for display

    This is a delightful antique Lord Bury 4 draw telescope, with a superb leather dressed barrel and eye caps. Delivered polished and ready for use or display.
