    About this item

A pair of very elegant, reclaimed, French "chateau" oak doors and frame, C. 1890 -1900. The doors are very heavy and well made and have an attractive, traditionally French design with each door having two raised and fielded panels with decorative mouldings around them. PLEASE NOTE: the panel designs differ slightly on the back face, with one door having recessed panels and the other door having slightly raised panels and both doors have a simpler panel design than the front face. The doors have an oak frame that sit around them. The doors have ornate pin hinges. The front face of the doors have a rustic, faded and cracked paint finish. One of the doors has been painted on the back face and the other door has been partially painted and partially stripped. You may wish to sand and re-finish the doors to suit.

The doors are in solid condition with some signs of use and some damage, as expected of reclaimed antiques. The frame is missing a footer and there is some damage where it sat and some signs of old woodworm. There are some surface cracks, knocks, chips and small holes to the doors and frame. The base of the doors have some softness and damage, seen on the back face. There are a few slight gaps around the panels. The doors have some indentations, holes and light damage where the original lock was removed and this can be seen as the replacement lock is smaller. The lock has some surface rust and no handle. Please note the lock has no key. The door heights may need levelling as one is slightly taller. Please see pictures for condition details. The doors would be ideal for dividing a room and have an abundance of French character and would make a striking feature in a home.

Please note that the measurements are approximate as the doors are not hung in position.

    Width including frame 154.5cm

Width of the pair of doors excluding frame 132.5cm

    Height of doors 241cm & 242cm

    Height of frame 254cm

    Door thickness 3cm
