    About this item

Two stunning, reclaimed, antique painted pine and cast iron glazed doors that can be used as a pair. The substantial and well made doors have a fantastic design with a mortised and tenoned pine frame and a cast iron grill in the centre of each, with long octagonal glazed panels and small diamond or triangle glazed sections. The cast iron was believed to be made by the Finchampstead foundry and the doors date to C.1850. Each door has brass hinges and a drip bar at the base.

We believe the doors have the original 4mm untoughened glass. PURCHASER MUST ENSURE THE GLASS MEETS CURRENT SAFETY STANDARDS and either change the glass if it does not or we can offer to apply a safety film to the panes that require it, for an extra charge, so it meets safety standards. Please contact us for details and a quote for safety film. The doors are suited for internal or external use. The doors could be used individually or set up as a pair. Currently the doors do not have closing beads on the inner edges. We can quote to add closing beads if required. Each door has a lock and key but handles will need to be supplied by purchaser. The locks would not work as a pair as they are currently set up but we can remove one lock and add a rebate lock, for an extra charge, if the doors are to be used as a pair. Please contact us to discuss setting up the doors as a pair and for a quote.

The doors are in good antique condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. There are some small patches of surface rust to the cast iron and some small knocks and chips, as expected. There are some small patches of paint over the smaller glass sections and some scratches and marks to the paint. The doors have some holes and marks from hardware removal. The brass hinges have some tarnish and some paint residue. The door heights may need slight levelling. Please see pictures for condition details. The doors are a beautiful example of Victorian craftsmanship and would make an interesting and rare feature in a home.

Please note: We have a single door of the same design also available for sale. Please see our listing reference DB0730 for details.
