This pocket watch was made circa London 1770
This pocket watch has been cleaned and serviced and is keeping good time for its age however please note, due to the fragility of the fusee chain not warranty is given on this watch.
Movement – the gilt full plate movement has square baluster pillars and is signed “Sam’l Denton, Oxford, 486”. The movement is decorated with a pierced watch cock and has a silver regulator disc. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some scratches around the plate pins.
Inner case – the movement comes in a gilt inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound from the back and set from the front and the movement is accessed from the front also. The case has a smooth plain finish and has its original bow and stem, free of repair or damage. The case though is in 90% mint condition – there is the expected amount of gilding missing on the back and sides
Outer case – the movement comes in its original gilt outer case, which is covered with brown horn, held in place with pins. The case is in 95% mint condition – about 10 pins are missing and some small marks also but overall in superb condition for a case of this age and type
The outer case comes with a watch paper from Canterbury.
Dial – the white enamel dial has its original pair of gilt beetle and poker hands. The dial is in 99% mint condition – superb condition
The watch has a domed mineral glass
The watch measures 47mm wide x 23mm deep
The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old key
