Miniature Celestial Table Globe

Anyone else missing travelling? This Miniature Celestial Globe is a timely reminder that the is a world outside of our homes and the surrounding streets. It is also a reminder that, while we may not be able to visit far-flung places at the moment, the world is now considerable smaller than it once was, with Central Africa being marked ‘unexplored regions’ on this early 20th Century globe. Tasmania is marked as ‘Van Diemans Land’ which predates 1846.
The globe stands on an ebonised stepped circular base with inset compass, surmounted by a ball finial.
It is in fine original condition and maintains a very good colour, with all names and inscriptions still easy to read.
