A wonderfully executed and emotive mid-century figurative painting, executed in oil onto canvas.
Painted in an expressionist style, a male figure playing the piano takes center stage in the composition and he is set against a delicate pastel blue and pink backdrop.
The artist’s virtuosity is evident in the dynamic and confident execution of each brushstroke, which imbues the artwork with a sense of vibrant movement and emotion, as well as adding an outstanding light textural quality.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame. There is some craquelure and paint loss to the figure’s head as shown in close ups. Otherwise, the painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
