A large and brilliantly executed mid century cubist figure composition, painted in oil onto canvas.
Reminiscent of cubist works by Pablo Picasso, this painting also features fragmentation and abstraction. By breaking the figure and the interior scene down into distinct areas, the artist shows us different view points at the same time and within the same space which suggests their three dimensional form. Yet there is also an emphasis on the two-dimensional flatness of the canvas instead of creating the illusion of depth.
The painting is housed in a textured champagne and gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
