    About this item

An elegant, reclaimed, Edwardian painted pine door dating to C.1910. The door is of a good quality and is solid and well made with mortise and tenon joints. The door has a very nice Edwardian design with raised and fielded panels at the base of the door, a shelf below the glazing panels with decorative apron, and an eyebrow above the glass. The door has a circular section, glazed with the original textured purple glass. The circle has 9 panes of glass but PLEASE NOTE the larger centre glass panel DOES NOT meet current safety standards. The centre panel MUST be changed before use or a toughened glass panel added to the front of it. We can re-glaze the central panel, or all of the glass panels or add a toughened glass panel to the central panel, for an extra charge. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The door has been painted white but there is flaking, chipping and stains to the paint and you may wish to sand and re-paint the door to suit. The door has two locks but the top lock has no key and will need to be changed.

The door is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The shelf has some damage where it has been knocked and is splintering. The panels have some splits and cracks. The decorative apron has some bulging and some cracks. The internal face of the door has a draft excluder that is coming away and the drip bar on the front face is coming away slightly. The glass has some paint residue. The letterplate has tarnish and is missing the knocker bar. The door has a bow of approximately 4mm and the door will need to be adjusted on the hinges when hanging it. The eyebrow joins have some slight separation. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has a quality Edwardian design and is well made, ideal for adding character to a period house.
