Description

This early 20th-century trench art desk piece combines a rotating money box with a pen rest. It belongs to the practical side of trench art, a broad group of useful and decorative objects made during or soon after the First World War.

The fabricated brass cylinder is held between hand-cut supports whose shaped edges provide several positions for pens. A copper fish surrounds the coin slot, and the barrel turns within the frame to release the money.
