An absolutely charming set of model bandsmen in the highly distinctive style of the toys made in Kondapalli, Andhra Pradesh, India. Dating to the Mid-20th Century.
The figures are those of a "Band Melam", a group of musicians who perform at auspicious occasions, such as marriages, to accompany the revellers with traditional Indian music.
Retaining their original box and in excellent condition.
