A characterful 20th century British Naive School oil on board depicting Henry Lister, painted as a later copy of an earlier portrait.

Full Description

A wonderfully characterful British Naive School portrait of Henry Lister, painted in oil on board during the 20th century.

The work is a later copy of an earlier portrait, interpreted with the directness and individual character associated with naive painting. The straightforward composition and distinctive handling give the portrait a strong decorative presence.

At 70 cm high, it is a substantial work with enough scale to hang as a standalone portrait and makes an appealing example of 20th century British naive and folk-influenced art.

An engaging decorative painting for collectors of naive portraits, British folk art and unusual portraiture.

Styling Notes

Naive portraiture works particularly well in both traditional and contemporary settings. Its strong scale and individual character would make it an excellent standalone piece in a hallway, drawing room or study, or incorporated into a collection of folk art and portraiture.
