About this item
John Dobby Walker (1863-1925) was a watercolour painter born in Bradford who started his working career as a coach trimmer and painter at Sheethams, a local coach building firm. He studied painting at the Bradford Church Institute and, following a spell as an art teacher, devoted his time to painting, mainly landscape views. He painted mostly around his home in the West Riding but also travelled and exhibited widely both throughout the U.K. and on the continent. His work is now held in good private collections and also in Public Art Galleries.
"A West Riding Wood Yard" is an oil painting on board measuring 11"x 16". It is signed lower left and is framed giving an overall size of 18"x 22".
