About this item
William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.
"Old Cottage, Killingbeck, Leeds" is a charming little oil painting on canvas measuring 8"x 12". It is signed and has an inscription on the back with title "Old Cottage, Killingbeck Nr. Leeds (near the Railway Bridge)". It is framed in a quality gilt frame giving an overall size of 13"x 17".
