About this item
A 19th century Coalbrookdale cast iron stickstand in the form of a terrier sitting on it's hind legs with it's front paws crossed, with a braided hunting crop in it's mouth and an expectant expression on it's face. The stickstand retains it's original brown patination on the dog and green on the lily leaves in the tray which sits on a scrolled base. The kite mark on the tray dates the stickstand to 1852, just a year after The Great Exhibition, and there is also a foundry number (see photos) . Fine original condition and patina.
