Large Chinese Bronze Censer, C1890

Fine large late 19th century Chinese bronze censer,c1890. Well cast and heavy at 2kg it is profusely decorated with large central panels showing a phoenix in flight and a mythical creature battling a serpent. It has a pierced lid with unusual coiled snake finial. It stands on raised feet and has stylised handles with temple lion/ Kylin masks beneath the handle. The bronze has good colour with some areas of age related Verdigris. It has a real decorative appeal and would display well in a traditional or modern setting.
