A Welsh tweed covered foam cushion, with gold rope and tassels, a button with 'Prince of Wales Feathers' and 'Ich Dien' motif to the centre.

The investiture of King Charles III as Prince of Wales by his mother Queen Elizabeth II, took place in Caernarfon Castle on 1st July 1969. These cushions were provided to various attendees for additional comfort and to the ticket holders who were sitting in the stands and on the rough stone of Caernarfon Castle. After the ceremony the cushion became the property of the ticket holder at a cost of 5 or 10 guineas. Although 4,600 chairs had been manufactured for the ceremony, there were only 2,725 of the cushions avalaible. The cushions were, therefore, already more scarce than the chairs and have become even more so over the years.

This cushion is in immaculate condition, having been boxed since the day of the ceremony and never subsequently used.
