About this item
25.5cm x 12cm (10 x 4.7 inches)
A really unusual and beautifully drawn design with highly stylised animals amid elegant foliage. The linework, drawn with speed and spontaneity in a deft hand, is strong, elegant and faultless. The colour palette is suggestive of 19th century Qajari pottery, but the drawing is unusually bold, confident and assured, with the zoological elements in particular being reminiscent of 16th century Iznik ceramics. (See similar example sold at Christie's here https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-5483200).
In excellent condition, no restorations or damage other than original firing imperfections. The neck of the vase has a slight lean, more prominent when viewed from one side.
