About this item
An early 19th century child’s plate with a central, transfer print and a pink lustre border. The black transfer print shows a child climbing a ladder whilst the older sister looks on. The verse reads:
“When up the Ladder I would go
How wrong it was I now well know
Who cried but held it fast below
MY SISTER”.
The border is quite unusual, being moulded with the Tudor rose, a shamrock, a harp and a thistle, these being all the emblems of the U.K., and this is covered in a pink lustre glaze.
English pearlware. Date c.1820.
Condition: There is a small chip on the rim, which can be seen in the image, but otherwise it is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Diameter 17.2cm. Depth 2cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10.
