    About this item

Two rare, reclaimed, Georgian solid oak hand carved pieces, ideal for a project. One section (showed on trestles) is a large piece with ornate carving and pine boxing attached to the back of it. The other section is a thinner carved section attached to an oak framework and pine boxing. The oak has a stunning design, highlighting the best of Georgian craftsmanship with the more ornate section having flowers, shields, leaves and a rope style border. The other oak section (showed placed on the floor in the photographs) has a simpler carved repeating design. The larger ornate section has stunning medullary rays and both oak sections have had a stain applied giving a rich colour. The top of the ornate section has some key holes in it.

The oak sections are perfect for a project and could be used to make a sideboard / console table, bar top, long shelves, storage or cupboards or as part of a shop display. Some ideas have been sketched out and this can be seen in the last photograph.

The oak is in solid condition with some signs of wear and some damage commensurate with age and there have been some repairs carried out. The more ornate section has had some repairs to each side and fillets of oak have been added to patch repair damage. There are some knocks, holes and surface cracks, especially to the more ornate piece of oak. The underside of the oak sections have some damage from being removed from their original position. There are some indentations, marks, discolouration and holes from the removal of supports or other oak that was attached to the ornate section. Please see pictures for condition details. The oak sections are very elegant and of a fine quality and will add fantastic period character to a project.
