About this item
This table is a classic in 1970s design by Sor Terence Conran, founder of Habitat. Conran’s ideal was to bring sleek European design to UK homes and Habitat worked with many famous names, like Eames and Hockney, to achieve this. Conran himself designed simple, elegant pieces and this table is a classic. The table was purchased from Terence Conran in the early 70s by Dixon’s Architectural Company in Cambridgeshire, where it was used in their head quarters. When the company’s owner died the table was used by his wife at her home in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Written provenance will be supplied with the table.
The table is pine, a simple rectangular top, nice and thick with softly rounded corners. It sits on a straight skirt and has simple square cut legs. It is rock solid and stands steady and level without wobbles. It has a laminated glass top with rounded polished edges. This has protected the surface and is probably the reason it is in such great condition. The glass top just sits on and is heavy so stays in place.
This is a timeless design in excellent order. And it is now a rarity, real designer pieces from this era are hard to find and will become harder. It is quite possibly an investment and should last a lifetime.
The table measures 246cm long x 70cm wide x 90cm tall
Please ask about delivery for an exact price. Sadly Etsy do not offer me the facility to vary delivery costs, £80 will cover most easily accessible areas but it may be a tad more if you are out on a limb. But if you are around the corner it may be much less. Please ask with your postcode, I’m usually quite quick to respond. Alternatively you are welcome to come and pick up from beautiful Derbyshire or send your own courier.
