    About this item

A nice Victorian English majolica "blackberry" teapot by Joseph Holdcroft. Bark effect walls to the circular pot with branch style handle and spout. Moulded bramble leaves and flowers spread up one side and across the cover which is topped with a cluster of three blackberries as the knop, and back down the other side. Impresssed HOLDCROFT mark and registration lozenge dating the piece to 1877.

    It measures 12cm (4 3/4") high, 17.8cm (7") spout to handle and 10.3cm (4") wide.

In very good condition: a small chip on the inside of the flange under the cover and two tiny glaze losses to the leaf on the cover. No repairs or restoration and minor handling wear.
