J.w.benson Twin Fusee Wall Clock

A fine and small striking wall clock by J.W.Benson of Ludgate Street, London, styled as a wall/bracket clock. The Red Walnut case is of good colour, hung from the top, with a faux bracket and decorative floral carvings to the trunk, as well as stylish twin side panels and locking bottom door. The clock is nicely balanced with a wide surround and 8'' cream enamel dial, brass bezel and convex glass cover. A substantial and fine quality twin chain fusee movement, bell striking on the hour, which is unusual for a clock like this and it will run for 8 days on a full wind.

J.W.Benson was a particularly respected watch and clockmakers in London in the mid-late 19th century, being one of very few early wristwatch houses that was English, rather than Swiss.
