    About this item

A Victorian, transfer printed picture tile. This is marked, to the reverse, “MAW & CO BROSELEY SALOP”. Maw & Co. made earthenware tiles from 1850. The first factory was in Worcester but they moved to Broseley in 1862. In 1883 the company moved to Jackfield so this reliably places the date of this tile between 1862 and 1883. It is printed, in brown, with a scene from one of Aesop’s fables and the title “THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF”. It is in excellent condition and it is now displayed in a modern frame which could easily be removed if required.

Dimensions of tile: 15.2cm. square. Overall size with frame 18.2cm square by 3.2cm. deep.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £20. Most of Western Europe add £10
