About this item
A set of four Victorian picture tiles made by Minton. Each tile is marked “MINTON CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and they date form c.1880. There is a separate, circular mark which reads “STOKE ON TRENT MINTON WALBROOK LONDON”. They depict birds in various roles which are named on the tiles. The owl represents “THE JUSTICE”, the eagles represent “THE SOLDIER”, there are smaller birds as “THE SCHOLAR” and then there is a flamingo but the lettering on this tile is indistinct. This is an interesting group of tiles and it is quite possible that there would have been other tiles in the series but I cannot find a reference to this particular series. All four tiles are in very good condition.
Dimensions: Each tile is 15.2cm. square by 1cm. deep.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £30. Most of Western Europe add £15.
