About this item
A dust pressed, block printed, Minton tile from the Rural Scene series set into a teapot stand. This is marked, to the reverse, in the casting, “MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and there is also “MINTON STOKE UPON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON” in a circular mark. It dates from c.1880. The tile is transfer printed in brown with two cows drinking in a stream. This is from one of the Rural Series that were designed by William Wise for Minton. It is mounted in a wooden frame with pewter corners and feet. The metal fitting is marked “BY ROYAL LETTERS PATENT H.S. & H. B”. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: 16.3cm square by 2.5cm. high.
