About this item
A nineteenth century, blue transfer printed pottery drainer from a meat plate. This has a blue printed mark with the pattern name “Genevese” within a cartouche, with “Opaque China” and a large “M” beneath. It is made by Minton and dates from c.1830. There is also an impressed number ’18’ and a further, impressed workman’s mark. The printed design shows a typical Tyrolean scene with a border of flowers. Originally this type of drainer sat into a large meat plate and allowed the meat juices to drain from the joint. They are now quite collectable as they are very decorative in their own right.
It is in excellent condition.
