About this item
An unusual, 19th century, Victorian picture tile. This is made by Minton and Hollins and in the reverse of the tile is moulded “MINTON HOLLINS & Co PATENT TILE WORKS STOKE ON TRENT”. The tile is printed with “MARY MARY QUITE CONTRARY” and shows a young girl watering her garden with a woman looking on. This is one from a series of nursery rhymes and it dates from c.1880. The black transfer print is on a pale olive green background and the tile is own very good condition.
Dimensions: 15.3cm. square by 0.9cm. thick.
