About this item
Oversized Stoneware Vesta match holder
Madrigal Stoneware Pottery Company
Staffordshire, England
Circa 1950s
Dimensions: 33 cm long x 3.5 cm wide x 3.5 cm high
A great oversized stoneware match holder / striker by Madrigal Stoneware, Staffordshire, England. The groove on the top for holding traditional vesta matches, which can be lit on the rough sides of the pottery. Would have probably been found on a traditional pub bar in the 1950's but now ideal as a quirky mantelpiece item. A standard vesta is photographed beside for scale.
