    About this item

A very fine impressionistic acrylic painting by Royal Institute member Donald Bosher (1912-1977). It shows a moodily atmospheric forest scene of gnarled trees with twisted roots and branches in an autumnal palette. It is signed 'Bosher' in the bottom left-hand corner, and the back panel is also signed by the artist. It is in its original frame. It dates to approximately the 1950s/60s.

It is in good condition with minor wear to the paint and frame, and is ready to hang.

Bosher was a prolific Leicester born artist, adept in watercolour, oils, pastels and acrylic. He was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters, and had two paintings accepted by the Royal Academy in the 1960s. Many of his paintings feature the Norfolk coast and are in relatively muted tones. This painting, with its more vibrant colouring and fantastical subject matter goes rather against type but, in my opinion is all the better for this.
