    About this item

An early 19th century, blue transfer printed soup plate. The name of the design “BELVOIR CASTLE” is printed, in blue, to the reverse of the dish and the transfer shows figures in the foreground of the castle all within a passionflower border.  Belvoir castle is a historic castle and stately home in Leicestershire which is the seat of the Duke of Rutland. The maker of this series, with the passionflower border, is unknown but the dish dates from c.1820. It is in excellent condition.
