About this item
These cushions are made from an antique Zhuang minority wedding blanket. The blanket is handwoven in cotton and silk and dates to the early C20. It would have been pink originally and you can still see some pink on one of the cushions. The colour is natural dye and this oxidises to gold over time, and this process helps us to age the textile. The panels of the blanket are only around 13" wide which is the width of the loom, so I've pieced some panels together to give a larger cushion front. I've disguised the join with a fringed border which is also lovely and old, having been rescued from some Arts and Crafts curtains. The back of the cushions are indigo dyed thick cotton. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
