About this item
These wonderful geometric patterned cushions are made from a vintage tube skirt from Sumba island, Indonesia. The textile is handwoven in thick cotton using the pahikung technique, where the pattern is developed with a supplementary warp. The colours are natural dyes in lovely earthy greens and yellows. Some of the colours are traditionally painted onto the textile after the weaving process and this can be seen. The tube skirt is typically made in 3 separate parts sewn together. I've used the plainer section of the skirt for the cushion back and the decorative pahikung section for the cushion front.
There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
