George V continental silver gilt galleon Nef, Imported London 1930

An absolutely stunning antique silver gilt Nef (table centerpiece) in the style of an 17th century Spanish Galleon. A London import by Adolph Barsach Davis in 1930, hallmarked in several places. Originally a Nef was a ship that carried salt or wine around the dinner table sometimes on wheels and laterally was just a decorative center piece. This one is intricately cast and hand finished to the highest quality and rests on cradle formed by four mythical sea creatures. The Galleon is in excellent undamaged condition and is over 100 years old and is probably Dutch in its origin.
