    About this item

    Philip Naviasky was born in Leeds in 1894 to Polish immigrant parents. Showing artistic talent from an early age he won a scholarship to the Leeds School of Fine Arts in 1907 and also studied at the Royal College. He painted in oil and watercolour in this country and on the Continent, exhibiting widely including at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Glasgow, Manchester, and the New English Art Club. His work is now held in important private and public collections throughout this country and the rest of the world.

    "The Gipsy Encampment" is a good large example of Naviasky's work. It measures 24"x 30" and is signed lower right and dated 1940. It is framed in a quality hand made frame giving an overall size of 30"x 37".
