    About this item

This cute Mauchlineware thimble holder in the shape of a lidded saucepan is decorated with a transfer print of Edinburgh Castle, as it would have been made as a souvenir. It stands 49 mm (2 inches) high, the body has a diameter of 45 mm (1.75 inches) and the length, including the handle, is 95 mm (3.75 inches). It is in very good condition apart from a small area on the lid where the polish has been damaged. It would date from the last quarter of the nineteenth century.
