Mid-Century Modern "Distance" Vintage Swedish Semi-Abstract Landscape Oil Painting, Framed

A beautifully expansive and panoramic mid-century landscape painting, executed in oil onto board.

A figure wandering across a stretch of greenery lines the lower section of the picture, followed by fields above that pan out into the distant horizon. We get a sense that the fields are never-ending, and that this calming scene before us goes on undisturbed for miles and miles.

The artist has used a restrained colour palette, beautifully contrasting planes of darker greys with lighter shades to create a sense of depth and width. As our eyes move from the foreground to the background, the brushstrokes transition from more expressive to gentler strokes, and the colours transition from more striking and darker shades to softer hues.

There is a palpable sense of serenity and restfulness with this picture – the type of feeling you get when you’re out in the rural countryside, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim cream frame. The frame has some slight scuffing but the appearance is still very good. The painting is in excellent vintage condition.
