A beautifully textured modernist landscape painting, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1975.
A large green tree punctuates the center of the composition, as it rests amidst a lush forest. Painted in a semi-abstract manner, the artist has skillfully deconstructed the scene down to planes of contrasting rich colours as well as expressive and painterly brushstrokes.
The artist’s use of the impasto technique adds a striking texture to the painting. The impasto technique involves applying thick layers of paint with visible brushstrokes, creating a three-dimensional effect that draws us in, as well as adding depth and tactility to the piece.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner linen border. There is some very light scuffing to the frame, but this doesn’t attract from the appearance. The painting is in very good vintage condition.
