A brilliantly executed mid century modernist vintage oil on canvas of a landscape composition.
This picture carries with it that wonderful feeling of being in the countryside and the sense of peace and serenity that comes with it. In the foreground of the painting we see rows of wildflowers lining the bottom of the composition. This then opens out towards rolling pasture, with several red cottages further into the picture. Behind the village we see a lake, a wooded area as well as mountain. The artist has used a very earthy palette of rich brown, green and red. Broad and expressive brushstrokes gives the piece its painterly effect, and adds texture and depth.
This wonderful painting is housed in its original mid century wood frame which suits it perfectly. Both frame and painting are in good vintage condition.
