Peace Sykes (1826-1903) was a painter and art master born at Crosland near Huddersfield. He trained as a house painter and then studied at Leeds School of Art and while there exhibited at the Yorkshire Union of Artists and other galleries throughout the U.K. "The Fisherman" is a watercolour measuring 5"x 9". It is signed lower left and is framed in a mount and quality gilt frame giving an overall size of 14"x 17".
