About this item
A very long and narrow lively mid century mountain landscape, executed in oil onto canvas.
The composition depicts a scenic and panoramic view of a cool blue lake being surrounded by mountains behind it. In the foreground, some trees with striking autumn-coloured leaves line a trail.
Leaning towards fauvism and also painted in a semi-abstract manner, the painting emphasises vibrant and rich colours as well as energetic and unrestrained brushstrokes. Although a very much subjective and emotional response to the landscape, it wonderfully captures the beauty of nature.
Its long horizonal layout would make it the perfect piece for an above-the-bed hang.
This painting is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner linen lining and another gilt window. The painting is in very good vintage condition, and the frame has minor areas of scuffing.
