    About this item

    William Greaves (1852-1938) was born in Leeds and studied at Sheffield College of Art. He travelled and exhibited widely at galleries including the Royal Academy, Royal Cambrian Academy, Manchester and Liverpool. He worked mostly in oils and his subjects include landscapes in and around Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire.

    "Late Autumn, Thornton-le-Dale, near Pickering" is an oil painting on board measuring 14" x 10". It is signed lower right and has a nice old inscription on the back with title and the artist's address. It is framed giving.an overall size of 18"x 14".
