About this item
A 19th century copper pipe mould. This mould is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has a castellated seam up the side. It dates from c.1870. The design has a series of overlapping circles to the top and this type of design was know as a pennytop, as it resembles overlapping pennies. The top half of the sides is fluted and the lower section is plain. The design is very crisp and this type of mould displays well either hanging or on a shelf. There is a very tiny hole in the side, where a hanging loop has been removed, but other than that it is in very good condition. The tinning, to the interior, is worn so it could not be used.
