    About this item

An enormous, nineteenth century, oval, French copper mould with fruits to the top. The fruit design is slightly stylised and the fruits could be either pears or quinces. The mould is one of the largest of its’ type that we have ever had measuring 33cm. (13 inches) long, by 20.8cm. (8 1/4inches) wide by 15.8cm. (6 1/4 inches) high. The design is nicely detailed and very deep and the sides are fluted. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, has castellated seams and dates from c.1870. Due to the huge size this would possibly have been made for cake. The side is engraved with the initials “A.M” which would relate to a previous owner and to either side of these initials there are two neat holes which were probably there so that the mould could hang when not in use.

It is in very good condition but there is very slight pitting to the copper on the top of the mould where it could have been sitting in ice. The tinning, to the interior, is still in quite good, usable condition.

    Dimensions: Length 33cm. Width 20.8cm. Height 15.8cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. , shipping to the U.S.A. and most of Western Europe.
