About this item
A good quality, Victorian copper, oval, fancy border mould. This is marked with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams above the pattern number ’615’. To the opposite end is a workman’s mark in the shape of a heart. It is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. The design is known as a penny top due to the overlapping circles on the top which resemble old copper pennies. This example has round topped, fluted columns to the sides. The mould is in excellent condition and the tinning, to the interior, is still in good enough condition for the mould to be used.
Dimensions: Length 19.2cm. Width 13.5cm. Height 7.5cm.
